DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will start for Japan on Saturday night at the invitation of her Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.
Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Shiro Sadoshima told diplomatic reporters on Wednesday, “Through the visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Dhaka- Tokyo bilateral ties would reach to a new height.”
Japan, the largest development partner of Bangladesh, has been significantly contributing to the socioeconomic development of Bangladesh through financial assistance in the sectors like poverty alleviation, physical infrastructure, power generation, human resources development and others.
“The visit is expected to further bolster Bangladesh-Japan relations in all areas of cooperation,” diplomats here think.
The Premier is to leave Dhaka for Tokyo tomorrow night at the invitation of her Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to seek financial assistance worth $14.90 billion for implementing half a dozen development projects in the country during her May 25-28 visit to Japan.
The upcoming visit is expected to beef up the bilateral economic cooperation between the two friendly countries for further strengthening their 40 years of tried and trusted friendship.
The Premier would leave Dhaka for Tokyo on Sunday.
The projects in question are Padma rail link, Teesta barrage, Matarbari ultra supercritical coal-fired power plant, Dhaka east-west expressway and Jamuna double lines with the total investment of $14.90 billion.
